PSU and Microsoft are offering all active Students, Faculty, and StaffFREE Microsoft Office (client download for home) and Office 365 (cloud service that can be accessed in any browser)!

This Outlook Learning Path supports all Penn State faculty, staff, and students using Outlook. Although you probably know how to use email and calendars in other systems, this learning path is designed to teach you how to do it in Office 365. Follow this learning path in. Expand your Outlook. We've developed a suite of premium Outlook features for people with advanced email and calendar needs. A Microsoft 365 subscription offers an ad-free interface, custom domains, enhanced security options, the full desktop version of Office, and 1 TB of cloud storage.

There is no sign up needed for these resources. If you are an active student or employee you are ready to go! Use your PSU email address andpasswordto login.

  • Microsoft 365 allows the Ohio State community to collaborate through one cloud platform delivering a wide range of productivity apps. Access email, store and share files, communicate with your coworkers or students, schedule meetings, track your to-do lists and more by integrating applications and downloading them on up to five devices.
  • To download the Office 365 suite including Outlook you can login to office.psu.edu and download them for both Mac or Windows. Each user can install on up to 15 devices using Penn State O365 License (5 on PC/Mac, 5 on Tablet, 5 on Mobile). To connect to Office 365 email via Mac Mail follow directions online.
  • Microsoft Office 365 Empowers you to create, collaborate, and innovate through a host of email, calendaring, and premier applications that can be accessed from anywhere, at any time, on any device.

The MS Office suite can be downloaded to 5 personal computers, 5 personal tablets, and 5 personal smart devices. ***If you are a faculty or staff member, the latest version of Office is already supplied for your campus work/lab computer by contacting the Gorilla Geeks. There is no need to use a free download for your University-owned computer.**

In addition to having access to the Office client which includes applications like Word, Excel, PowerPoint OneNote, OneDrive, Outlook, Teams, and more (which work on both PCs and Macs) you can activate the client on your iPad, iPhone, and Android Phone. This gives you access to edit and review your homework on the go, regardless of the device that you have on hand. You also get 1 TB of storage through OneDrive to ensure that you have access to all of your documents whenever you need them. If you are using a computer that doesn’t have Office installed, don’t worry you can edit or review those assignments in Office Online in any browser.

Office and Office apps can be used on Windows, Macintosh, iOS, and Android devices. Find all of the latest information on technical specifications at the Office Install site and the Microsoft Mobile site.

When you leave the University for any reason, your Office 365 subscription through your institution ends. You may enroll in other consumer or commercial offers available. Please note, that you should make sure to transfer all necessary and appropriate files from your University Office 365 account to your personal account priorto leaving the University. Contact the Gorilla Geeks for directions on how to do this.

All PSU students receive a @gus.pittstate.edu (gmail) account that is their official PSU email account. They can keep this indefinitely.
Faculty and staff are given a @gus.pittstate.edu (gmail) account to use as they wish but it is NOT their official PSU account. They can keep this indefinitely.
Office 365 Accounts:
All PSU employees receive a@pittstate.edu (MS O365 Outlook Email) account that is their official (work) PSU email account. Along with this, they receive all MS O365 applications. Employees lose their access to both work email and all applications in Office 365 on their last day of employment. These account names are archived in the event that an employee returns to PSU. Supervisors of those leaving receive a notice allowing them to access account information for a designated time beyond the employees departure to ensure continuity of operations.
All PSU students receive an Office 365 application account (excluding Outlook email). Students retain this account for 6 months after they are no longer enrolled in a class.
Emeritus Faculty and Staff:
Any faculty or staff that are named Emeritus have the option to retain their @pittstate.edu Outlook email account after undergoing a one hour training session with Information Technology Services.

Office 365 is a user-based service in the cloud. Office 365 comes with a full version of Office and familiar Office applications like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, OneDrive, Skype, Teams, Access and more.

In addition to accessing these tools in the cloud, every active PSU student and employee can install the full version of the Office suite locally to their desktop, tablet, and phone!

Yes, this would count towards the limit of installing it on 5 tablets. Just install the applications and sign in with your school ID.

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS:

Configure an Exchange Account:

NOTE: Be sure you have a network connection Sysnucleus others driver download for windows 10. as your phone will attempt to verify the account.

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Users & Accounts.
  3. Tap Add Account.
  4. Tap Exchange.
  5. On the Add your email address screen, enter your email address (your full email address; xyz123@psu.edu).
  6. Tap Manual Setup.
  7. Enter the following information:
    • DomainUsername: should be filled in already (full email address; xyz123@psu.edu)
    • Password: Enter your WebAccess password.
    • Server: outlook.office365.com
  8. Tap Next.
    • Your phone will display Verifying for approximately 5 seconds.
  9. Tap OK on the Remote Security Administration verification screen.
  10. Tap Activate this device admin app.
    • You will receive an on-screen confirmation: Your account is setup and your email is on it’s way.
  11. Tap Next.

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Download and install the Microsoft Outlook app from the Google Play Store.
  2. Open the app and click Get Started.

  3. Enter your Penn State email address (xyz123@psu.edu) and hit the CONTINUE button below.

  4. This will bring up the Penn State WebAccess login window, as seen below.

  5. Enter your WebAccess credentials (Your username and password).
  6. You will need to accept the Duo prompt to proceed, if enabled.
  7. Click Skip and you’ve now set up your new Penn State Office 365 account.

Configure an Exchange Account:

NOTE: Be sure you have a network connection as your phone will attempt to verify the account during setup.

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Accounts & Passwords.
  3. Tap Add Account.
  4. Tap Exchange.
  5. Enter the following information on the Exchange screen:
    • Email: Your full email address abc123@psu.edu
    • Description: Whatever you wish; e.g. PSU O365
  6. Tap Next.
  7. Tap Configure Manually when asked if you wish to Sign in to your “psu.edu” Exchange account using Microsoft.
  8. Enter your WebAccess password.
  9. Tap Next.
    • Your phone will display Verifying for approximately 5 seconds.
  10. Enter the following information:
    • Server: outlook.office365.com
    • Domain: (leave blank)
    • Username: Your full email address abc123@psu.edu
    • Password: should already be filled in
  11. Tap Next.
  12. Tap Save.
  13. Exit the Settings application.
  14. Open the iOS Mail application.
  15. Tap the account you just added (Step 4).
    • The new account will be displayed by the Description you entered in Step 4 above.
    • Your device may take a few minutes to download mail from your Office 365 account.
    • You can also open the iOS Calendar app to see your Office 365 calendars.

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS:

Configuring Outlook on Your iPhone or iPad

NOTE: Be sure you have a network connection as your phone will attempt to verify the account during setup.

  1. Open the Outlook app and select Get Started.
  2. Tap your Outlook Settings.
  3. Tap Add Account.
  4. Tap Add Email Account.
  5. In the Add Account screen type in your Penn State email address.

  7. In the Penn State WebAccess screen, enter your Penn State Access Account userID and password.

  8. Tap LOG IN.
  9. You will need to accept the Duo prompt to proceed, if enabled.
  10. After successfully logging in with Duo, a prompt asks you if you would like to add another account. If you have another to add, you can do that now (tap Let’s Do It) or opt to complete this step later.

  11. If you do not have another account to add, then tap Maybe Later. Your Outlook inbox will open and will be ready for use.
